Election Day

If there is one thing that I really miss it is Election Day in Chicago, when, at the crack of dawn, the Hand of GOD would write in the sky over the lake, “Mene Mene, Tekel Upharsin,” which means “Vote Early, Vote Often!”

And then the Angels of the Lord would sound their trumpets, always a bit off key (you would think that in the 4500 years or so since the universe was created they would have learned how to play), and as one body, the dead would rise from their graves and march in solemn if somewhat uncoordinated procession to the polling places chanting, “And the Dead shall walk, and the Dead shall vote. And the Dead shall speak, and the Dead shall vote.”

We don’t have any fun like that up here in Cheeseland.
